What can and can’t I auction?

Generally prohibited items

Auction items are governed by the same policy as our other products on While you can sell almost any item, some items are prohibited in order to protect our community and to comply with legal restrictions. You can find a detailed list of these items here.

Auction prohibited items

Since you are listing a product in the Auction category, your product should be something that is worthy of being auctioned. The subcategories in the Auction module should give you a good indication of what items belong in the Auction category.

Good auction examples are:

  • Antiques, crafts, artwork and decor
  • Benefit and charity items
  • Books, movies and music
  • Business equipment and supplies
  • Clothing, shoes and accessories
  • Collectibles, coins and currency
  • Computers, electronics and instruments
  • Food, wine and gourmet items
  • Lessons, classes and courses
  • Jewelry, gemstones and watches

Any product that is found in the inappropriate category, or that doesn’t comply with any of our guidelines may be removed or hidden from the catalogue. You may also be subject to a range of other actions, including restrictions of your buying and selling privileges or suspension of your account.
