A picture is worth 1000 words, but text is important too.

Text is important

Once you have your product images, you can upload them to your CuteMesh.com store. But remember, the product titles and descriptions are almost as important as the images themselves! While it might seem obvious, describing every detail of your product (including the dimensions, material and weight) is a crucial part of the purchasing process for your customers. Customers like to see images and descriptions that accurately represent an item they plan on purchasing. Adding meaningful and interesting text can also help reduce unwanted returns or complaints. When it comes to adding text to your product listings, it is best to:

  • Describe the item using your own words.
  • Be as accurate as possible and not mislead the customer.
  • Copy specific product information from it’s packaging, such as measurements, weight or other item specifications when necessary, but avoid using any other text from the product packaging.
Product descriptions

Use the product descriptions wisely. The short description should not be used as a preview of the longer description, which is a common mistake. Instead, use it to encourage customers to buy the product. The short description is in a prime location – right underneath the product’s title, so it is very likely that the customer will actually read it. Use this to your advantage! In a short sentence or two, explain what you are selling, why the customer needs it and why they should choose your specific product. If the short description is about convincing customers to purchase your product, the long description should be about answering any possible questions they might have. Write a comprehensive long description for this purpose. A good product description will bring the product photo to life, transforming it from something two-dimensional to something that customers can imagine themselves with. This is how they will know if they have finally found the product they are looking for. At the same time, try to keep your sentences short, accurate and to the point. It is a delicate balance – you don’t want to overcrowd your product pages with unnecessary information that will draw away from the product.
